“There are realities we all share, regardless of our nationality, language, or individual tastes. As we need food, so do we need emotional nourishment: love, kindness, appreciation, and support from others.”— Goswami Kriyananda
“I’m Murray Smith born in Michigan. I spent 8 years in Seattle before making the move to SUNNY Santa Monica. I’m a semi-retired graphic designer, still doing some non-profit work. I grew up going to the farmer’s market with my mom and LOVE fresh fruits and vegetables. I’m one of seven kids so she bought in bulk!
Bread Head drew me in with their beautiful logo-it’s stunning! But it was/is their beautiful mission that keeps me involved. Food and community is important to me, I think it brings people together in a very natural way. In the past I made and served meals at SAMOSHEL (Santa Monica Shelter) and am currently a Meals on Wheels delivery person (shout out to Route 8!). I love walking into Bread Head on Fridays for Gaia’s Gift to see the abundance and the brilliance of the produce we have to offer our community. Everyone at Bread Head is so wonderful and they’ve made me feel very welcome-I’m so glad that logo caught my eye.“
